- 13:40 – 14:40 | Risk-based material selection for chemical installations by Christof Scharsching (OMV)
Christophe Scharsching, responsible for the material selection for the new ReOil plastic recycling plant at OMV Schwechat refinery near Vienna, will talk about the challenges encountered during the material selection process for process plant for a completely new, proprietary chemical process. He will highlight how literature studies, corrosion testing, in cooperation with TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium and on-stream monitoring are used during the upscale phase from a pilot-scale, laboratory plant into a real life chemical production plant.
Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs): Smart Boundaries for Asset Integrity by Athanasios Gredis (TÜV AUSTRIA)
Athanasios Gredis, a corrosion engineer of TÜV Austria Belgium, will discuss the principle of Integrity Operating Windows and discuss the benefits of this systematic approach for ensuring plant reliability and integrity - 14:40 – 15:00 | Networking Break
- 15:00 – 16:00 | Plastics Under Pressure: ‘Corrosion’ of plastics by Boris Gibbesch (NIKK)
Use of plastic materials becomes more important in the industry. Although these materials are not susceptible to the same corrosion mechanisms as metals, plastics are not immune to degradation. Boris Gibbesch, Managing Director at NIKK BV, will discuss the main damage mechanisms of engineering plastics as well as how to identify these potential irregularities.
Live NDT Demonstration by Eric Cruysweegs (TÜV AUSTRIA)
Eric Cruysweegs, BU Manager of TÜV Austria Belgium NDT, will provide a short introduction to NDT and give a hands-on demonstration of NDT techniques focused on engineering plastics
