Corrosion and Material Degradation: Identification, Mitigation and Inspection Strategies for the Industry
Objective
Ensuring process safety is fundamental to the reliable operation of industrial facilities. Among its key pillars are structural integrity and material degradation, which form the first line of defense in protecting installations.
This specialized course, developed in collaboration with KU Leuven and TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium, has been running successfully for over five years, consistently attracting professionals from across the industry. The programme offers a unique blend of academic insight and practical expertise, helping participants build a solid foundation in understanding degradation mechanisms and implementing effective countermeasures.
Delivered by leading experts from academia and industry, the course spans four days and includes a syllabus for each session. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for experienced engineers and technical professionals working in roles where process safety is a core responsibility, as well as junior engineers that have recently taken positions in this field. It is particularly relevant for those in operations, engineering, maintenance, inspection, and safety, who are looking to strengthen their technical understanding and broaden their expertise in structural integrity and degradation management
Practicalities
The course takes place over four full days, running from 08:00 to 17:00 each day.
- Days 1 to 3: on campus at KU Leuven
- Day 4: at the TÜV AUSTRIA Belgium site, Wingepark 41, 3110 Rotselaar. This final day includes hands-on demonstrations and expert-led sessions on monitoring techniques and non-destructive testing.
- Registration fee: €2,500 (including course materials and catering).
