Autoclave as corrosion test at increased pressures and temperatures

In our experience, many processes at our customers take place at elevated pressures and temperatures. Therefore, for accurate material selection, it’s crucial to simulate these conditions closely. Consequently, autoclave testing provides an effective solution.

What Does an Autoclave Test Involve?

The setup is similar to a standard exposure test, where the material (in the form of a metal plate/coupon or test piece) is exposed to a medium for a set period. Specifically, an autoclave, a pressure vessel capable of reaching 320 barg and temperatures up to 400°C, allows us to replicate high-temperature degradation phenomena accurately. Finally, after the exposure period, our experts evaluate the degradation on the test material and report the findings.

Autoclave covers Complementary Tests

In addition to exposure testselectrochemical measurements (cyclic polarisation measurements) can also be performed in the autoclaves. This can be done up to a temperature of 305°C and a pressure of 135 barg.
