Asset Integrity
Steel in all its alloys is the most common material for which customers ask us to perform a root cause analysis in case of failure. However, from time to time, there are more exotic materials among them. One such case will be discussed here, more specifically a failure analysis on tungsten carbide. This is one of the hardest materials known, except for diamond.
Asset Integrity
Eddy Current Testing (ET) is an electromagnetic testing (EMT) method, where a high frequency alternating magnetic field is used to induce currents in the material under examination. ET is a non-contact method, which makes it able to inspect conductive materials covered by thin coatings and paints. This makes it a very good alternative to dye penetrant inspection (PT) and magnetic particle inspection (MPI), also said magnetic testing (MT) since it requires less surface preparation.

Reaching a new level in Acoustic Emission expertise
A new milestone
A new milestone has been achieved within our asset integrity capabilities with the successful attainment of Level 3 certification in Acoustic Emission Testing (AT3) in accordance with ISO 9712. This achievement marks an important step forward in strengthening technical expertise and reinforcing our commitment to high-quality non-destructive testing (NDT) services.

Detecting H2S Damage with Phased Array UT and TOFD
A complex but valuable inspection exercise
Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) damage remains one of the more challenging degradation mechanisms encountered in industrial assets, particularly in pressure equipment, piping systems, and welded components operating in sour service environments. The detection and characterization of this type of damage requires not only advanced ultrasonic techniques, but also a high level of interpretation skill and understanding of the underlying damage morphology. In one recent inspection case, H2S-related damage was identified using Ultrasonic Testing Phased Array (UT PA), with Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) considered as a complementary method to support the evaluation.
